Description
As the name suggests, this one is a whopper! A very large red cooking apple, it is excellent for pies and makes an impressive baked apple! With a natural sweetness it can be cooked with little or no additional sugar and averaging 500g per apple you might want to take this one down to your local garden show! It is a recent British variety developed by the famous apple breeder Hugh Ermen. As a triploid variety it makes a healthy and vigorous tree that bears regular and heavy crops, though it will need some other apple trees nearby for successful pollination. Apples will store well untill March.
