Description
‘Winter Gem’ is an excellent eating apple with a rich flavour reminiscent of its famous parent variety 'Cox's Orange Pippin'. The apples are firm, crisp, aromatic and tasty, with a good balance of sugar and acidity. They can be picked in October and under the right conditions will store well into the spring. 'Winter Gem' is a variety with good natural disease resistance, making it an easier tree to grow than its disease-prone parent ‘Cox’. It's a very popular garden variety, raised in 1977.
