Description
This variety produces sweet and juicy russets of Victorian origin. The apples have a nice balance of sugar and acid with a pleasant nutty taste. Found by Mr. Brownlees of Hemel Hempstead in 1848 it was once a popular variety but has since faded from favour. The fruit keeps well and the apple tree produces deep red buds and tremendous pink blossom. A good alternative to the more commonly grown Egremont Russet.
