We have a selection of trained apple trees available as 1-tier espaliers. Available bareroot on M9 rootstock or in a 15L pot on MM106 rootstock.
These can be collected from the nursery, or delivery can be made on a pallet at £100.00 + VAT.
Espaliers are perfect for training against walls , fences or can be used to divide spaces in the garden. The trees we sell have a single vertical stem with a horizontal tier of 2 branches at around 30cm from the ground. For how to train espaliers, see our pruning advice page.
Apples on MM106 rootstock are grown in the nursery for two years and then in a container for a third year. We use peat-free compost.
Apples on M9 rootstock are grown for 2 years in the field and are available as bare-rooted trees in the winter.
Once planted, varieties on MM106 rootstock require 2m in each direction and will happily grow up to 2.5 - 3m tall. It can be kept in check with summer pruning.
M9 requires 1.5m in each direction and will grow up to around 2m tall.
