Description
An intensely rich and aromatic late season apple, 'Tydeman's Late Orange' is a cross between 'Laxton Superb' and 'Cox's Orange Pippin'. The fruit is small to medium in size, greenish yellow with a dark purple flush and some light russetting. When eaten in December the taste is sharper and stronger than 'Cox's Orange Pippin' becoming more mild and sweet with storage. The tree is a vigorous grower and favours the drier climates found in the east of the country. It was developed at the East Malling Research Station, Kent in the 1930s.
