Description
The original Bardsey Island apple tree was discovered growing against a wall on the windswept island of Bardsey off the North Wales peninsular. Despite the harsh and exposed conditions, the apples were healthy and blemish free - a notable quality for any apple tree growing in North Wales! Cuttings were collected by nurseryman Ian Sturrock and the trees are now sold as an excellent disease resistant variety for organic cultivation and sites that are ‘less than ideal’. When cooked it becomes delicate and fluffy and needs no added sugar. (see www.bardseyapple.co.uk for more info)
