Description
An early season Cornish dessert apple, thought to be a seedling of Devonshire Quarrenden, but producing a larger apple than its parent and arguably a better flavour.
The apples are not fantastic keepers, but are great when eaten straight from the tree or pressed for juice. It can have a lovely strawberry flavour when ripe.
It is well known for the fact that hardwood cuttings will easily root and grow in to new trees. Quite a few of the Cornish varieties will do this, known regionally as 'pitchers', i.e, "pitch it over your shoulder and where it lands, it will grow!"
