Raised by Richard Cox around 1825, who also raised Cox's Orange Pippin from seed, this is a lesser know but very good mid-season eater/cooker. Produces large apples, fruit is crisp but sharp when eaten off the tree and of good flavour. Regular cropping, and is moderately vigorous and spurs freely so good for training. <br> Much more disease-resistant than the better know Cox apple!
