Davy Luscombe and Graham and Shirley Jelbert have planted an excellent new juice orchard at Truthall Farm, organic farmers on the St. Aubyns Estate. They produce courgettes in the spring and cauliflowers in the winter - what Cornish locals call ‘broccoli’, and will soon be juicing apples in the autumn from their new orchard. The trees have been staked out at 5m x 5m spacings making it easy to pass in both directions with the tractor and mower. It also allows good airflow between the trees keeping fungal disease down to a minimum, very important on this organic farm.
